Petroushka - The Crowds

The piece begins with bells and flutes doing many things, representing busy crowds. The piece quickly crescendos and adds trumpets and other instruments to represent happiness and excitement. The piece decrescendos briefly and bass instruments come in, foreshadowing something bad. The rhythm accelerates quickly and the flutes sound frantic as the bass instruments grow louder. The piece ends with a short decrescendo followed by a crescendo and trumpet playing over flutes and bass instruments.
